One of the most difficult decisions during drought is deciding what stock to sell and what stock to keep. Unfortunately there is no single recipe and every drought (and farm) has its own unique set of circumstances.
Local Land Services is running a series of workshops to help guide decision making. Featuring Phil Graham (Graham Advisory), these sessions will explore a range of management options and their impact both during the drought and in the recovery period.
-Assessing resources and risk – water, feed, pasture, finance etc.
-Is selling or feeding a better option for certain classes of livestock?
-Destocking – what are the implications on the business (short and medium term)?
-Restocking strategies – what are some of the options?
